Education in Nicaragua is the only way to lift a country out of poverty. In many areas ofre Nicaragua parents have no money to send kids to school. Some of the kids do not even have parents to help them. In Nicaragua there are groups helping kids get the help they need to go to school. Chavalos de Granada fosters connections between groups and people working in Nicaragua to improve education and living conditions.
Many areas 
have projects that are important to help raise Nicaragua out of poverty. Help is especially needed in barrios around major cities.
Here are just a few types of projects needing volunteers and support money.
- Provide adequate housing
- Clean drinking water
- Eliminating Hunger
- Give Nutricional advice
- Sanitation
- Training for jobs
- Agriculture help
- Access to medical and dental services
Too many of the small barrios outside the big cities have acces to few of the services mentioned. Giving help outside cities is especally important to help raise people out of poverty.
Many families live on a dollar a day. Housing is usually wood and tin shanties with dirt floors and no inside plumbing or electricity. Living conditions are not good at all.
Access to education is the only way Nicaragua can lift itself out of poverty. It is now the second poorest country only behind Haiti. The Nicaragua government has little money to build schools and provide teachers. Many schools are run by volunteer groups providing teaching skills and the school buildings barrios can't afford.
Volunteers from around the world have come to Nicaagua to help build homes, schools and infra structure. College kids volunteer to teach and help kids get off the streets. Professional people come to cure sickness or fix teeth. Engineers come to help provide building skills.
